About Our Services

Exams & Consultations

Complete Physical Examinations & Vaccinations

75-80% of pets can avoid illness or emergency procedures with preventative maintenance. McKinney Animal Hospital recommends having your pet examined at least once a year to help your pets live longer, happier lives and for early detection of potential health issues.

Veterinarian’s Note: One of the easiest ways to enjoy your dog or cat longer is to vaccinate them yearly to prevent illness. It’s easy to forget.

In-House Laboratory

On-Site Lab & Medical Equipment

Are you tired of waiting for test results from outside laboratories? So were we. Our on-site laboratory serves you and your pet best by being equipped with the latest medical equipment and diagnostic tests to give you fast, accurate results.

Surgery

Trusted Veterinarians

At McKinney Animal Hospital, we can perform almost any surgery your cat or your dog could need or find the right specialist to help with the operation. Our experienced veterinarians provide many surgical services at our clinic, ranging from routine to advanced procedures. We occasionally refer cases to specialists (board-certified veterinary surgeons) to perform complex operations when advanced equipment or training is beneficial.

Dentistry

Teeth Cleaning, Polishing, Oral Surgery, & Digital X-Ray

McKinney Animal Hospital knows the importance of maintaining proper dental hygiene for your pets. We provide teeth cleaning and polishing, oral surgery, and tooth extractions. Dental chews, toothbrushes, water additives, and more are available to help maintain positive year-round oral hygiene for your dog and/or cat.

Veterinarian’s Note: Many times, your pet’s bad breath is because of poor oral hygiene. If you clean their teeth, this will help fix their bad breath!

In-House Blood Work

Accurate & Reliable

Routine blood tests are run before anesthesia and surgery to ensure that your pet does not have a disease or illness that would make anesthesia or surgery a significant risk. This laboratory work is very similar to the “pre-operation labs” that your doctor would recommend before you have any procedure performed on yourself.

Ultrasounds

Painless Diagnostic Testing

Ultrasonography is a type of diagnostic technique that uses ultrasound waves to produce an imaging study. This means that when we perform ultrasonography, we can see internal images of the patient’s body.

Unlike some other imaging studies, like X-rays, ultrasonography does not use radiation. Instead, ultrasonography uses high-frequency sound (ultrasound) waves to create a picture of what is inside your pet’s body. Ultrasonography is a completely non-invasive, painless way to diagnose and evaluate many common diseases.

Radiology

Accurate Diagnoses For Treatment

One of the essential pieces of equipment in our clinic is our X-ray/radiology machine. It allows us to quickly and accurately diagnose and treat medical issues.

Anesthesia

Monitored & Safe

Our facility offers the safest and most advanced veterinary anesthetics available to ensure the well-being of your pets. Heart rate and other vital signs are monitored during all surgical procedures.

Bathing

Pampered Pet = Happy Pet

This service includes nail trimming, anal glands expression, ear cleaning, bath, and brush-out for seasonal up-keep or a “doggy/kitty day of beauty.”

End-Of-Life Care

Understanding & Compassionate

Our doctors offer multiple modes of easing pain and adapting environments and care to keep your friend comfortable and by your side in their last months. Then we will be by your side as together we decide if kind, painless euthanasia is the gift that your pet needs.

Euthanasia is a selfless act of love that you give your pet – the peace of seeing them quietly slip away in your arms is a final gesture of compassion. Your pain will deepen as you say goodbye to your friend, but their pain will be no more. Comfort, peace, and dignity are gifts we can give our pets after the lifetime of unconditional love they have given us.

House Calls

Convenient For You & Your Pet

Our entire staff understands the stress of bringing your pets to the veterinarian. We even understand that there are times when it is simply too hard to come into our office.

For this reason, we offer house calls to our clients. Whether you want to get several pets examined at once or are having trouble loading your old pets into the car, don’t hesitate to schedule a house call for your pets. One of our veterinarians would love to come to your house for an examination.

Pest Prevention

Parasite, Flea, & Heartworm Prevention

Heartworm disease is a severe and potentially fatal condition for your pet. Our clinic recommends yearly heartworm tests and fecal exams for parasites that can cause serious health issues for your dogs and cats. Along with testing, we also stock the best products available for the prevention of fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal worms.

Nutrition & Weight Loss

Helps Your Pet Live Longer & Healthier

Nutritional recommendations and consultations are also available. Whether your pet needs a prescription diet for skin allergies, needs to shed some extra pounds, or you simply want to give your pet the best food to live a happy, active life, we can help. We stock the foods you will need to help maintain and promote your pet’s healthy lifestyle. We also carry vitamins and other health aids.

Veterinarian’s Note: An overweight pet has a shorter life with more health problems. A little diligence and oversight now can save you a lot of money and heartbreak later. Many pet owners are unaware their pets are overweight. Make an appointment, and we can determine if your pet is overweight and what we can do to fix it.

Microchipping

1 in 3 Pets Will Be Lost Without Identification

This procedure is an information chip implant that is placed under the skin and can be scanned and read if your dog or cat is found. Microchipping greatly increases the chances of finding a missing pet.

Fracture Repairs

Patients needing fracture repair will receive a comprehensive evaluation of the animal’s condition, followed by a customized treatment plan tailored to each patient’s specific needs. We use advanced techniques and equipment to stabilize the broken bone, promote healing, and minimize discomfort for the animal. Our team is also trained to manage post-operative pain, monitor the healing process, and provide follow-up care as needed.

We understand that fractures can be challenging and stressful for the animal and the owner. We are committed to providing compassionate and effective care to ensure a successful outcome. Offering fracture repair at McKinney means owners will no longer need to travel or wait to schedule with specialty or emergency hospitals, making care more accessible. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or to schedule a consultation.
